Job Description

·         Responsible for conceptual development, pricing and writing detailed technical proposals for all types of automation equipment and projects.

·         In projects where technical complexity is large, the senior principal engineer will involve key members of engineering management in pricing and conceptual layout.

·         Assists engineers and other technical staff in design and development of products, systems, processes and equipment by analyzing technical problems and working closely to customer specifications.

·         Involves third party vendors and suppliers in the quoting process, where necessary.

·         Travels to the customer’s site to assist in project or product development, working with engineering design specifications, objectives and standards.

·         Provides sales presentations to customer personnel, when required.

·         Obtains and prepares detailed estimates of time, quantities, labor and material costs required for work areas such as; product design, testing, machine building, equipment installations and manufacturing processes.

·         Assembles and collects all necessary technical information and customer specifications from engineering and sales & marketing, in order to prepare detailed proposals.

·         Analyzes material and writes in clear, concise language for initial draft.  Then selects, organizes, edits and revises proposal.

·         Makes sure proposal is sent to customer by most efficient route to ensure it arrives on or before deadline date.

·         May be assigned special projects in support of engineering and sales & marketing, as required.

·         Define scope of work adequately enough in proposal to allow project manager and project team to begin work on system if the proposal become a project.

·         Position involves extensive use of Computer Aided Design and computerized spreadsheets.

·         Prepare cost estimate from application, release to PM at the beginning of project, this costing is done during the quotation to customers.

·         Conceptual must be reviewed by customer for approval and further cost estimation is required to assist sales in the quotation.

·         Administrative Duties:

·         Ensure subordinates clock in time accurately.

·         Ensure subordinates start work on time as per employee hand book (To be developed by HR).

·         Adhere to all health, safety rules and company procedures.

·         Accountable for the health and safety of employee under his supervision by ; ensuring that machinery and equipment are safe ,

·         Making sure that employees work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures and providing adequate training for employees in specific work tasks to help reduce or eliminate the risk of workplace injuries.

·         Ensure subordinates follow ISO procedures, and maintaining good house keeping in IT drive.

·         Encourage subordinates to ensure tools, equipment are well maintenance and in good condition.

·         Recommend measures to improve work methods, equipment performance, quality of product and working condition.

·         Building and developing a SolidWorks Library within the PDM for AME design department.

·         Assist implementing and achieving corporate objectives or direction set within Asia.

·         Liaise with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff if required.

·         Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications.

·         Prepare and submit subordinates job appraisals, progress reports and other documents for project record.

·         Conduct some engineering related training knowledges to the AME team members.

·         Train some leaders to support & guide the junior staff in the team in machine design..

·         Encourage subordinates to work closely within the project team, good communication with other department, team work, working relationship with internal, suppliers & customers.

·         Last but not least is to lead the AME team to a world class engineering platform
