Job Description
- Interpret Design needs and provide full support on all non-leather materials requests.
- Source suitable materials in accordance with briefs from design vision, innovation materials, sustainable materials, quality cost and lead-time goals.
- Oversee the ordering, scheduling, tracking, and reporting on all test, and seasonal proto materials, road lots of samples plus production.
- Communicate daily with the US PD/local PD Team, overseas offices, and suppliers.
- Color Palette: collaborate with USPD to maintain an updated, seasonal color palette and execute/distribute lab dips.
- Meet with suppliers and foster a strong partnership.
- Support/Assist Cole Haan materials Global Director on raw materials/ seasonal costing negotiations
- To Oversee material quality from development to production, ensure color swatches are approved on time.
- Understand all technical properties and work with USA material team, design, USA PD /Asia PD plus factories on correct application to the product. Ensure materials are “fit for purpose”; problem-solve quality lapses.
- Ensure all non-leather used are compliant for performance and restricted substances and RSL test pass prior to production, plus material testing for physical properties.
- Act as an educator and provide material knowledge to cross-functional teams.
- Strive to ensure Buy Ready status of all raw materials by PO placement.
Job Requirements
1. BS/BA/BFA degree (BS/BA BFA is an optional, but must important technical background on Non-leather materials)
2. non-Leather course accreditations a strong plus
3. Minimum 15+ years in non-leather sourcing and development; footwear experience required.
4. Strong collaborative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
5. Excellent negotiation skills
6. Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
7. International travel required.
