Job Description
Summary of Role
General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing facility/factory and has full responsibility for the factory’s profitability.
They take on a hands-on approach to management plans, guides, and directs the factory operations to achieve factory objectives in safety, quality, production output, efficiency, delivery and customer satisfaction.
General Manager oversees full operations of a factory including but not limit to manufacturing, service operations, cost efficiency, operational transformation, program and project management and is usually responsible for hiring employees, managing performance, providing feedback, and developing people.
They must provide leadership and motivation and general direction for employees and oversee the factory’s operation efforts, and they may also establish goals and expectation to the team ensure that all plans, rules, policies, processes and applicable laws are followed by employees. They must delegate projects and follow-up to ensure that team members are on-schedule and deadlines are being met.
Because this is a higher-level position, many years of experience within the manufacturing field and/or leadership/management are required, having manufacturing excellence vision, continuous improvement mindset to grow the whole factory while keeping costs low.
Job Requirements
Qualifications, Experience and Competency Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial or Chemical Engineering, other Engineering or Business.
· 15 years of progressive manufacturing experience, preferably currently having same role (GM) in a manufacturing company OR with at least 10 years of increasing management responsibility in a manufacturing environment
· Strong operational experience with the ability to establish and measure KPI’s.
· Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
· Proven financial acumen.
· Experience in managing continuous improvement projects.
· Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· APICS, CQE, Six sigma or Continuous Improvement credentials preferred
· Possess working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques including: Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, Visual Management and JIT Lean manufacturing
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
